The Joburg Market seeks to expand its services in order to promote the development of local enterprises. In line with this objective, a modern Fresh Produce Packhouse is proposed. The JMFSP is currently underutilized and barely contributing to the company’s revenue generation, thus identified as a potential site for the  new packhouse.

We carried out additional investigation of three potential sites, reporting on their advantages and disadvantages in relation to the existing masterplan of the Joburg Market, including Green building principle considerations, ROI, Business plan, Area, Risk analysis, other concurrent projects, Circulation and existing Masterplan.

Design principles: flexibility and modularity of structures to allow for possible changing needs in future such as- function, and expansion.

Planning of the programme- decanting of the JMFSP to an alternative building within the Joburg Market. The JMFSP’s new home would have to be refurbished part of this project.
